Q: Where has the Advanced Coaching Award progressed from structurally?
Q: Why is it no longer a one year/season programme?
We want to support coaches to access learning and develop knowledge, without the initial pressure of assessment.
We wish to develop advanced practitioners over time to embed knowledge, skills and behaviours within their own environments.
Our goal is to meet the learner where they are at, to help them understand what they do, to promote feedback generation around their own coaching practice and to help coaches to identify and develop quality in their own delivery.
Q: What is the new process and the pre-requisites?
Q: When will the course be available to sign up to?
The pre-requisite on-demand webinar will be available between 1st February and 1st March 2023 and will be bookable on GMS. Those who have accessed this webinar will be sent a direct booking link to Part 1 from March/April 2023.
It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure their Game Management System (GMS) record reflects this attendance and ERCA/Level 2 completion before booking onto Part 1.
Q: Is there an additional cost for being assessed in more than one domain?
Yes, each domain a coach wishes to be assessed within will take a season to complete and costs £600. Successful completion will be recorded on GMS.
Q: Where does Constituent Body (CB) coaching fit within the domains with assessment in mind?
This would fall under pathway coaching. However, it should be noted that any assessment-based setting needs to be season long in its nature. Some CB Coaching programmes are delivered in short windows. This may provide difficulties for the coach to demonstrate full competence and complete the associated course tasks throughout the season.
Q: How does the award align to other NGBs and the World Rugby framework?
We have worked with both the Home Unions and World Rugby around content and levelness. The course equates to the World Rugby Level 3 award and other Home Unions are starting to use the same descriptive language around Advanced Coaching for their Level 3 awards.
Q: Are the course places available capped at all?
No, our intention is to provide access to all who meet the pre-requisites. Once we have an idea of those eligible, we will set/confirm dates and venues with a range of geographical options.
Q: What days of the week are the face-to-face days likely to take place on?
Our intention is to provide a mixture of weekend and midweek face to face learning options across programmes. Once a coach signs up to a course (for example, taking place on Sundays), they must remain with that cohort for the duration of Part 1.
