Accessing Electronic Match Card Data as a Club Administrator

The Electronic Match Card (EMC) was introduced in 2016/17 as a way of driving operational efficiency in recording match details, linked to competition integrity.  It is an important tool to enabling clubs and the RFU to understand how much rugby is being played, how often and by whom.

As we cascade the EMC down for use across an increasing number of competitions and ad-hoc fixtures we have developed a mechanism that enables club administrators to view information entered in a consolidated fashion.

A feature has been enabled for club administrators that surfaces match data entered for teams within each club where EMC has been used. Provided you have level 2 permission or above, you can access these Match Card Stats within the reports section of the Organisation Profile module under Reports > Club or Team Participants Reports

For Club or Team Participants reports, simply enter the season you wish to view (this will default to current season). You may need to remove  the current season to toggle to a previous season in the ‘Select Season’ to enable the drop-down list with the magnifying glass icon to run the report for a previous season, as per example below:

Club Participants Report:

This report will show the key statistics across all teams where EMC is being used, highlighted number of players used, age breakdown of players and number of individuals that have made appearances based upon regularity. You will also be able to see information about discipline and point scoring if Match Events have been entered onto the EMC.

Team Participants Report:

This report will display a breakdown of specific players that have been entered onto an EMC for a particular team. Key statistics will show an administrator the amount of appearances each player has made, match statistics and if substitutions have been entered, will show the minutes each player has played for all fixtures where EMC has been used.

How to download:

These reports are automatically downloaded as an PDF version but there is also the option under the ‘Export Options’ to change to Excel.  If you want a Word doc etc version, then open as per normal in Excel and then change under ‘Save As Type’ from Excel to Word.
